Every year the Fargo Moorhead Youth Symphonies fosters the musical well-being of hundreds of young musicians. As part of our mission to provide a challenging orchestral experience, we must also make sure this mission is attainable for any student no matter the cost.​

Noren Ellingson Memorial Fund

Noren Ellingson Memorial Fund - This fund was established in memory of Noren Ellingson after his death in an industrial accident in August of 2011. His three children and three nieces have played in the Youth Symphonies. Noren was an active volunteer for FMAYS as well as a faithful attendee to all of his families’ concerts. The Fund is being used to purchase music for FMAYS.

Erling Linde Scholarship Fund 

Erling Linde Scholarship Fund - This fund supports our FMAYS student musicians who need assistance to cover the cost of tuition. By supporting this fund, more students will be able to receive the highest level of musical training possible. Erling Linde, father of conductor Jane Linde Capistran, was a longtime band director in Moorhead, MN and principal flutist of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra for 32 years. Erling passed away in October of 2019. 

Resonate Scholarship Fund

Resonate Scholarship Fund - This fund was established by FMAYS alumni clarinetist Joanna Lin, founder of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Resonate. Resonate’s mission was to make a love of music universally accessible, with a focus on inspiring rural student musicians in ND and MN. This fund awards tuition scholarships to FMAYS student musicians coming from rural towns to support them in their music education.

FMAYS Donation Fund

FMAYS Donation Fund - This fund supports many unique aspects of FMAYS. Any donations to this fund will help with several opportunities geared specifically towards our student musician experiences, including: guest artists, section coaches, lesson scholarships, music camp scholarships, and many more.

Beth Heller Second Semester Tuition Scholarship Fund

Beth Heller Second Semester Tuition Scholarship Fund - This fund supports our FMAYS student musicians who need assistance to cover the cost of tuition. This pays for the second semester of tuition. Beth Heller was the Executive Director of FMAYS, serving from 2003-2016, and served as a board member for many years prior to her appointment as ED. Beth’s children are FMAYS alumni.
