2026-2027 FMAYS Founders concerto competition
Application Form Due October 30, 2026
The FMAYS Concerto Competition for the 2026-2027 season is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026 beginning at 9:00 AM in the Choir Room 122 at NDSU.
The eligibility requirements for competition are:
1) You must be a Symphony Orchestra member of FMAYS
2) Previous Concerto Competition winners are not eligible to register.
3) Each contestant will have eight minutes to play during their audition
4) Your concerto piece must be approved by Mr. Lambrecht (we are only able to approve pieces that are available for purchase (NOT a rental) and have accompaniment that is playable by the Symphony Orchestra)
5) Audio or videotaped recordings will not be accepted
6) Your accompanist must be present at the audition
7) Students must upload a PDF of their music (with cuts marked) to this folder by November 6
Judges will be selected from among area professional musicians.
The entrance fee is $25.00. Payment by check should be sent to the FMAYS office or given directly to Dr. Kellogg. You may pay online here: https://www.fmays.org/shop
Entrance fees are non-refundable.
Deadline to submit an application is October 30, 2026.
A schedule with specific performance times will be sent out on Monday, November 2.
One winner of the competition will perform with the Symphony Orchestra at the concert on March 7, 2027.
Additional performers will be selected to perform for the FMAYS Honors Recital on Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 4:00pm in the Pilafian Room 146 at NDSU. This recital is free and open to the public.
