auditions
General Information
Auditions take place every Spring (with a makeup day in the Fall for special cases)
Please read through this whole page before submitting any forms or payments. Invite your friends to audition too!

You should plan on auditioning in the Spring for the best chance of getting into FMAYS as there may not be spots open in the fall.

AUDITION FEE
There is a $25 fee to audition. This fee must be paid prior to scheduling an audition time. The options to pay your audition fee are below
-
Check - Make checks payable to FMAYS, and mail all checks to FMAYS 808 3rd Ave S. Suite 302, Fargo, ND 58103. Please make sure your students name is on the memo line of the check
-
Venmo - You MUST put your student’s name in the Venmo “What’s it for?” section. This way we can connect a payment to your student. For instructions on how to make a payment using Venmo us this handy Venmo Instructions Page. We are working on phasing out Venmo, so this is NOT a preferred method of payment
ATTACCA STRINGS AND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS
Please note that students DO NOT need to audition for both Symphony and Attacca. If you audition for Symphony Orchestra, you will be placed in either Symphony or Attacca based on that audition.

You may play any work of your choice, with the level of difficulty representing your technical and artistic ability. Remember that it is not WHAT you play, but how well you play that matters. You may be asked to stop playing before you reach the end of your prepared piece – this is not a reflection of your performance, just a matter of keeping the auditions on schedule.
